Ethan is the 3rd Southeastern Puppy I have raised and it is not just lots of work, it is rewarding and lots of fun. My first SEGD was Cooper who is assisting a military hero, and my second, Pilgrim, is currently in the service program, being professionally trained to be of assistance to another service hero.
Puppy Raisers, like me, volunteer about a year of our time raising these beautiful puppies, teaching house manners, basic obedience, door manners, impulse control, and a few specific commands necessary for their future. We love them, nurse them when they are ill, comfort them when they are frightened, and then send them off to College, sometimes never to see them again. It breaks our hearts, we cry, then we start on another puppy .. oh, the house training begins again .. but we love these pups and know what they can do to help people who NEED them.
Southeastern Guide Dogs relies 100% on private donations, receives no government funding, and doesn't charge students and veterans for their services. Please donate to this wonderful organization which runs this wonderful program to help the blind, the sight impaired, the war heros and their families, the police and firefighters, and others in need of these extraordinary dogs.
Thank you all so very much.
