Alyssa & Jackie
When I was in college, I volunteered in a club on campus called the Dog House where we raised and trained service dog puppies for Susquehanna Service Dogs. It very quickly became my passion.
In my senior year, I started raising a little black lab girl named Jackie with the goal of her becoming a service dog and changing someone's life.
Flash forward a couple years, and I am now a proud staff member at Southeastern Guide Dogs. I've turned my passion into a career, and I am so grateful every day to be part of the mission: to help visually impaired individuals and veterans become more independent through partnerships with guide and service dogs. Additionally, although Jackie did not make it as a service dog, she has changed someone's life: mine!
Jackie and I are a team, both happy with our choice in careers (mine as the Breeder Host Liaison at SEGD, and hers as my sidekick/pet), and proud members of the SEGD family.
Our goal of raising $726 (a nod to Jackie's birthday, July 26th) will be applied to our team's goal of raising $5,000 so we can name and sponsor a puppy who will go on to change someone's life. We hope you will join us on our mission and play a role in serving those who cannot see and those who have seen too much.
