Catherine Van Velzen & Watson & Addie
I continue my work on Mondays in the nursery at Southeastern Guide Dogs. I am proud to be part of an organization that breeds, raises, and trains some of the finest guide dogs, service dogs and therapy dogs in the world. They provide freedom to people who cannot see, those who suffer from post traumatic stress, like our veterans; and those who need therapy support. Some of our dogs are also in drug enforcement.
My first sponsor puppy was Jay. He was diagnosed with hip dysplasia during his campus formal training and is now residing with his puppy raiser family in Sarasota.
Last year I sponsored April. She was born in March 2017. She is living with her puppy raiser.
In November I became a Breeder Host. Watson came to Anna Maria Island from Houston. She is a wonderful Golden Retriever (photo above). Born in May of 2017 she may/may not be bred upon her next heat. I am fortunate to have a campus volunteer job that puts me in the nursery with her and her babies.
Southeastern Guide Dogs relies 100% on private donations, receives no government funding, and doesn't charge their students a dime for their services – once again Addie and I are participating in their biggest fundraiser of the year - The Walkathon.
Won't you join me in supporting Southeastern Guide Dogs in their mission to raise and train these puppies? I've set an ambitious Walkathon fundraising goal, and your help means a lot to me – and to the students whose lives are changed forever because of these incredible dogs.
Thanks so much for your help. No gift is too small to make a difference!
WOOF! That is a BIG thanks from Watson & Addie too!
