Did you know that Southeastern Guide Dogs breeds, raises, and trains some of the finest guide and service dogs in the world? Some of you have been fortunate enough to meet my previous guide dog in training, Papa Bear on his journey toward becoming a super hero for someone special.  A guide dog makes all the difference in the world to a visually impaired person. Just imagine if you or I couldn't leave the house without help! In addition, SEGD provides service dogs for veterans and facilty therapy dogs to military hospitals. A dog means freedom, independence, and companionship to those individuals who receive them.

As a volunteer puppy raiser, I've opened my heart and home to a guide dog puppy. As a puppy raiser, I socialize, teach house manners, basic commands and public exposures (including air travel!). I will soon need to return him to the SEGD school for intensive guide dog and harness training. It’s truly a rewarding job for an outstanding organization.

When I learned that Southeastern Guide Dogs relies 100% on private donations, receives no government funding, and doesn't charge their recipients for their dogs or services, that's when I decided to participate in their biggest fundraiser of the year: the Walkathon.

Please join me in supporting the Southeastern Guide Dogs mission to raise and train these puppies and create extraordinary dogs. I've set an ambitious Walkathon fundraising goal, and your help means the world to me – and to the people whose lives are changed forever because of these incredible dogs. Thank you for your help. Your donations make it possible for these puppies to stay healthy and grow into working dogs of the highest caliber.
